At the residence of Simon Smith, the British Ambassador to Ukraine, “The Great British Garden Party” took place on the 17th of June, 2014. The charity fundraising was held to support Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Palliative Care Clinical Centre and Kharkiv Regional Palliative and Hospice Care Centre.
The event was organized by the British Embassy in Ukraine, NGO “Ukrainian Palliative and Hospice Care League” and supported by PepsiCo, Hotel Intercontinental, Opera and Holiday Inn, Oriflame, Ukrainian Airlines and others.
The funds raised by the secret auction, namely 58 thousand 894 UAH, will be in equal parts granted to the mentioned hospices.
Delivering a welcoming speech British Ambassador to Ukraine, Simon Smith expressed the hope that the fundraising campaign will be successful to raise funds for the needs of hospices.
Vasyl Kniazevych, League’s Chairman of the Board, said: “It is very significantly that the country, where palliative and hospice care movement arised in 1967, hosts us today, helping to develop it in Ukraine as well. Despite the difficult situation in our country, we have to defend our Motherland and create a humanitarian turn of mind in our state.”
